AWARDS

One of AIFRB's primary goals is to advance excellence in fisheries science through recognition of achievement as measured by the highest of professional standards. The Institute offers awards to students, early career scientists, outstanding individuals and groups, and dedicated members. Members and professionals are encouraged to apply and nominate peers and colleagues for AIFRB awards. 

Annual Award

Up to $500

The Clark Hubbs Research Award supports travel expenses for Student or Professional Associate members to present results of an original research paper or project at scientific meetings or to conduct research at distant study sites.

Annual Award

Up to $1,000

The W.F. Thompson Award for Best Student Paper recognizes excellence in research and encourages student professionalism in fisheries and aquatic sciences and publication of research results.

Three Year Award

Up to $3,000

The Kasahara Award is intended to recognize the Institute’s most promising young associates and members early in their research careers.  The award highlights active involvement and leadership in research and innovative approaches to fisheries science.

The Outstanding Achievement Awards recognize significant publications, exceptional service to the fishery profession, outstanding teaching or training programs, important discoveries or inventions, and significant contributions to the advancement of fishery science.
